KEVIN HAINES is Lecturer in Applied Social Studies at the University of Wales Swansea where he is responsible for teaching about youth justice and criminal justice management. He has a longstanding interest in youth justice and is a member of the committee of the National Association for Youth Justice. He is the author of Understanding Modern Juvenile Justice. MARK DRAKEFORD is a lecturer in the School of Social and Administrative Studies University of Wales Cardiff where he has particular interests in social welfare systems and young people. He has been a practitioner in the Juvenile and Youth Court systems in Wales and England for more than twenty years having worked in the probation service and in intermediate treatment. .
